Highlights: Come learn about the Gift of Reading "story" and how this community initiative is celebrating 20 years of making a difference in Niagara. The program has grown to provide over 9500 books annually to needy schools and agencies while our Club's members yearly log hundreds of volunteer hours to make it a success. An interactive presentation with treats for all in attendance makes this a meeting not to miss! Come celebrate our program's past and future!
The founder of the Gift of Reading Program is a graduate of Brock University and presently serves on Brock's Alumni Association. She began her teaching career with the Ministry of Education as a teacher of the deaf. She returned to Brock and completed her Masters of Education in 2005. She founded the Niagara Chapter of Anaphylaxis Support and Knowledge Network for parents of anaphylactic children and is a former Board Member and Director of the National Support Groups for Anaphylaxis Canada. She is a committed volunteer in our community and in 2012 received the Queen's Jubilee Medal for her committed volunteerism in our province.
