There is quiet conversation and the hum of anticipation. Then, the lights dim, darkness and silence descend on the real world, and the curtain goes up on a realm created by our greatest playwrights and actors. The play begins.
There is nothing quite like a theatrical performance to fire our imagination. A play, whether it be a musical, a drama, or a comedy, entertains us while it educates us. It takes us to places we might not otherwise ever go and makes us think and feel differently than we otherwise could.
Niagara has a rich theatre tradition and CFUW St Catharines taps into that cultural heritage with its Gift of Theatre programme. Each year, we provide children and youth in local schools with the chance to experience the enchantment of the theatre. We support the presentation of live theatre events in two public schools as selected by the District School Board of Niagara and the Niagara Catholic District School Board.
